The Trustees of Mulan Foundation Network hosted a happy and successful Summer Drinks event for friends and supporters of the charity on 1 August 2016. This was the first Mulan event in 2016. The chosen venue was the high quality modern restaurant, Bright Courtyard Club in Baker Street which is part of Shanghai Life Fashion Group established in Shanghai in 1997 and whose motto is ‘Innovation, Style and Quality.’ The Trustees are grateful to Bright Courtyard Club for their support of the charity and for their kind support and the delicious canapes they provided.
Those attending included all the Trustees of Mulan in particular, the newest Trustee, Sharon Lai of DKLM LLP Solicitors and her husband Paul Chu of Atkins, Mulan Ambassadors, Sir Thomas Harris KBE CMG, Chairman of European Services Forum and his wife Lady Mei-Ling Harris, Colonel Brian Kay OBE TD DL, who is also the Sheriff of Islington, David Stringer-Lamarre, Chairman of IoD City of London, Pauline Wong of Lifestylewith friends.com who has been a generous supporter of Mulan through her jewellery sales and donation of items for auction and charity raffles, Abdul ‘Dewale Mohammed the Executive Chairman of Sino-African Diaspora Forum & Awards.
It was also a pleasure to welcome Dr Sharon Lingzhi Heng, who is an opthamologist and business woman and the Winner of the Science and Technology Award at the first Mulan Awards in 2014 . She was accompanied by her husband Michael Chan, Senior Partner of Chan Neill Solicitors.
Mulan Chairman, Mei Sim Lai OBE DL welcomed everyone to the event and updated the gathering on current developments at Mulan including ongoing work on setting up a mentoring scheme for successful women to help younger Chinese Women on the way up. Mei Sim also announced the date of the 2016 Mulan Awards Ceremony and Reception which will take place in the highly prestigious Cholmondeley Room at the House of Lords on Tuesday 13 December 2016. There will be 4 Awards in 2016 for Young Achiever, Contribution to Business, Contribution to Education & the Arts and Contribution to Community. Nominations for the Awards will be opening soon once the Awards Committee is in place.
