Mulan Foundation Network, a UK-registered charity organisation (Charity no: 1147252), launching the first of its Role Model/Mentoring scheme for Chinese women in the legal profession in the UK and worldwide on March 11th, 2015
March 8th of every year is celebrated globally as the International Women’s Day. This year’s theme is “MAKE IT HAPPEN”. Since the early 1900s International Women’s Day has celebrated the economic, political and social achievements of women, past, present and future. It is a special annual day to honour and celebrate women’s success and to remind everyone of the inequities that still exist and need to be redressed.
Miss Mei Sim Lai OBE DL, Chairman, Mulan Foundation Network, says: “At Mulan we aim to recognise and honour the achievements of Chinese women in the UK and elsewhere. We are committed to making it happen.
“As part of our celebration for this year’s International Women’s Day, we are extremely excited to launch our first-ever role model/mentoring scheme. We hope this scheme will empower young Chinese women on the way up, so that in return they can support and help each other as well as contribute to the wider community.”
The Role Model /Mentoring Scheme will involve well recognised successful Chinese women from around the world, including winners of the first Mulan Awards in 2014: Carol Hui, Legal Counsel of Heathrow Airports; Jiang Bing, Deputy Director at The Great Britain China Centre; and Huilin Proctor, Director of China Desk at international law firm DLA UK LLP; as well as Professor XiChen Li of Chengdu, Founder Partner and Managing Director of Sichuan Taichang Law firm and Associate Professor of Xihua University.
